Role: Consultant WiMAX Network Design and Added Value Services
WiMAX network design is based on many factors; I defined reference architectures that guides technology usages to deliver broadband internet services, VoIP, and other applications. The network planning process includes:
- Data Collection and Validation: gathering site information, traffic profile and demand, site configuration, subscriber data, equipment location
- RF Planning and Engineering determines the network topology, compute the number of required hubs, their dimensions and location. The quantity of WiMAX BS and the traffic volume from each is an output of the RF engineering effort. The radio access equipment quantities and required interfaces are computed based on the RF input
- Backhaul requirements, topology design, transmission media and cost options
- Core Network Planning: focus on the number and configuration of the core network elements, the number and configuration of the transport, and the estimated IP traffic. As part of the core network planning, the transmission plan will address the quantity and type of transport facilities and how and where traffic will be routed.
Deliverables: Network Designers Record:
- Network architecture
- Radio access network design and engineering
- Backhaul access network design and dimensioning
- Core network design and engineering
- Detailed IP network design
- Performance and bottleneck analysis
